Islington Home N1
This project dramatically extended the lower ground floor living space of an existing Islington house to create a light-filled Family Room addressing the garden. The existing rear garden was excavated and remodelled to form a series of planted terraces descending down to the rear of the extension, while above a patio is retained as usable space for sitting and eating. The work involved the demolition of the existing rear extension, the partial demolition of existing internal and external walls of the main house, the excavation of the rear garden, lower ground floor and under the front vaults and the construction to extend existing rear basement to the garden.
In additional two-storey rear extension, there was the construction of rear garden stepped planters, steps and planting boxes.
There were structural alterations at the centre rear of the lower ground floor and the installation of two rooflights - one large one at the lower ground floor and one of medium size to the first-floor rear extension. There was also general associated restoration throughout.
